Tom Savage plays quarterback. My response was: They were in the playoffs last year and they just added who they believe will be their franchise QB. If they picked wisely, you can bet on them being in the mix at the end.

So if Deshaun Watson turns out to be a wise choice, what does Tom Savage have to do with it? He'll be sitting on the bench.
You know I forgot about Watson truthfully, but the picture of Tom Savage was just goofy looking so I was trolling for likes.

Now that you've reminded me of Watson, if he pans out they will have a really solid chance at making a run, until Brady retires and the Steelers fall apart they won't have much of a shot at the Super Bowl. The Raiders are also a superior team.

This rg3 crap is the same thing ppl are saying about Dak.I'm wondering Is this just a black qb assumption? Because neither Watson nor Dak are limited the way rg3 was so the similarities are nonexistent besides their skin color

I don't think it's race thing. I think they use the...there is a year of film on him...reasoning. The difference is that Dak is a QB first, and runs when he needs to. RG3 ran before he passed. So that year of film was to defend against him running, as you already knew how to defend his basic QB skills.

Like Wilson from Seattle, he was the more pure QB between RG3 and Kapernek. But was there sophomore slump talk of Wilson? I don't recall there was. But you could tell he was going to get better, where the other 2, I just didn't see it. And Dak looks to have more upside than Wilson.

Again, it all hinges on Watson and what he becomes, but if the Texans offense can put up 17 points minimum in every game, they'll be in the playoffs because that defense will hold the majority of teams to below 17.

Historically qbs get better in their second year compared to their rookie seasons. The sophomore slump doesn't actually happen very often. So that argument makes no sense once somebody breaks it down

That same Texans team, with the worst starting quarterback in the league, went toe to toe with Brady and the Patriots for a good part of their matchup in last year's playoffs, without JJ Watt.

Given their defense, and a healthy Watt, if they get anything resembling competent quarterback play, I think that they're capable of beating anybody.
I do to, for 1-2 games.
But not 3-4 straight playoff teams

Now if Watson ends up winning the job right away and had a season 70-80% of Dak's, the have a shot.

Neither team will be in the SB, but I would LOVE to beat Houston in a SB. I hate that city with a passion. I hate the Texans. I hate their fans and their little brother syndrome. I hate the Astros.

You get it.

Judging from the responses in this thread, not many paid attention to the divisional round matchup between Houston and New England last year.

They held Brady to a comp% of 47.3 and a QB rating of 68... Without J.J. Watt. The problem was Osweiler posted a QBR of TWELVE.

That front 7 might be the most dominant unit in the league next year, that's including our OL. We all know how impactful a pass rush can be, especially in the postseason.

All they need is Watson to be able to drive the bus and not force mistakes, they have enough weapons on offense to be pretty good there as well.

But saying a team that boasts the best defense in the league isn't a contender in the AFC is ridiculous.

That's correct! Clowney almost single handidly beat them. He was all over the place.

Thank you and you're exactly right you can tell they paid no attention to the playoff game.
