I don't see a guy with his athletic profile being anything more than a solid LDE whose potential is 6-8 sacks a year. I hope I'm wrong, but I have higher hopes for D Moore and Tapper than I do Taco. Not a great 1st round pick IMO.
Stole him at 28. Some mocks had him a top 15 pick. Unfortunately most have already made up their mind how good he will be. If he only has 5 or 6 sacks that pick will get questioned beyond belief next off season. Have to give him some time and not expect instant results.

I believe he can be a solid Tony Tolbert/Justin Tuck type LDE. Which is an asset... But we really needed a guy like Charles Harris, Derek Barnett, or Takk McKinley as an athletic RDE who can bend the edge. But those types of guys just don't make it to pick 28.

Mamacita, I have so much hope for and belief in Taco, and I'm praying he's a steal at 28. I agree with X that he shows a lot of similarities (on the field, obviously) to Greg Hardy. He showed bend on his highlight clips (not having watched actual games, like yourself).

I truly believe he can be a RDE, I hope that's where we slot him and let him develop.

I've heard similar praise to that which you state regarding Lewis and him being the other who jumped out on film and gamedays! Woot! :)
Double WOOT !!!!

Could someone direct me to the list of names of 6'6 280lb DEs that have run sub 4.7 40s?

Thanks in advance.

Well he'll probably double or triple that in pass deflection lol

Doubt he'll be ROY but I'm hopeful obviously. I think he can get 5-7 sacks but more importantly he needs to stand up against the run. He was so/so in college vs. the run IMHO. Hope he bulks up and is ready for the pounding he'll take.

I'll be happy if he gets more than 4-5 sacks... I just don't see it. Would've loved a trade back... hope I'm wrong...

Supposedly the Cowboys like Taco more than Harris and McKinley.

Agreed -- we were fortunate, indeed, that Charlton was available that late in round one. I can easily imagine some of the posts that many of our, let's say, more demanding members might offer up. Taco is just a rookie and as such, his production should fittingly be subject to reasonable expectations. I'm actually hoping that as many as 5 or 6 sacks are in the cards for him. Anything more than that for a rookie would be gravy.

Is Jaylon Smith considered a rookie? If so, then Taco finishes 2nd in the voting

Taco may be better suited for LE, especially considering how much faster Tapper is off the ball. In that mold, you also have Mayowa and Moore competing for snaps, so if they slide TCraw back to DT, Taco may have a better opportunity rotating with DLaw...at least, until David Irving returns...then they'll have their hands full trying to figure out a good rotation.

I have actually seen some reports from scouts and others that claim Taco's first step is quick, so I'm inclined to at least expect it to be somewhere in the middle between quick and not so quick. His main advantages, however, are said to be in his length, strength and a relentless spirit that eventually brings him success. I think he'll minimally provide an adequate contribution in our rotation. 5 or 6 sacks in year 1. I think the defensive staff will try him out at both RDE and the left side as well and go from there.

I like big long lanky DLs with power, they tend to give matchup problems to NFL Olinemen and wear down the opponent more than the speed rush guy, watching young guys like Koney Ealy/Michael Brockers lead me to believe in Taco Charlton.
