The final day of on-field workouts at the 2017 Combine features the defensive backs.
The on-field workouts at the 2017 NFL Combine reach their final day this Monday. The players participating today are the defensive backs.
The Cowboys organization, and Cowboys fans, should be paying attention to what goes on in Indianapolis today. Dallas has four key pieces of their secondary testing free agency this offseason, leaving a lot of questions as to what that unit will look like going into the 2017 season.
The Cowboys have two corners, Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr, who are free agents. Both players have pros and cons, and it’s conventional wisdom that Dallas won’t sign both. Orlando Scandrick is still on board but is growing older, and Anthony Brown has been a late-round steal in the 2016 draft. If the Cowboys lost one corner, or both, their depth would be an issue.
At safety, both Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox are free agents. Church has been called a must re-sign by some, but earlier this week there was discussion that Church’s price is going up based on chatter at the combine. Wilcox has been inconsistent in Dallas, but last year was his best in a reserve role.
This draft is supposed to be heavy in quality players in the secondary, and area the Cowboys will defintiely look at, especially if they lose a few key free agents.
This is an open thread to discuss the combine.
