The third day of on-field workouts at the 2017 Combine features the defensive line and linebackers.

The on-field workouts at the 2017 NFL Combine continue on Sunday. The players participating today are a mixture of defensive linemen and linebackers.

If any day of the 2017 NFL Combine should intrigue Cowboys fans, today is the day. With the constant discussion about the lack of a pass rush for the team over the last few years, all eyes will be on the defensive line candidates, especially the defensive ends/edge rushers.

Of course the prize of that group is Myles Garrett, a player that will be long gone by the time the Cowboys are on the clock at pick #28. There will be other players that are of interest for fans. Taco Charlton seems to be climbing the charts and might be out of range for Dallas. Takkarist McKinley is going to do the drills, but revealed he’ll need shoulder surgery that will require 4-6 months to heal; this could drop his stock significantly. Tim Williams, a physically gifted pass rusher, may not be on the Cowboys radar after they got burned with Randy Gregory. Williams has admitted to failing drug tests at Alabama. Another player of interest, Derek Barnett, may or may not participate after contracting an illness at the combine. Auburn’s Carl Lawson proved his strength at the Combine by leading the defensive ends in bench press reps at 35.

The Cowboys could also look at the linebackers. Sean Lee is set, and they hope Jaylon Smith will be ready to go, but that’s not a sure thing yet. Anthony Hitchens is still there along with some young guys trying to make a mark, but the Cowboys could easily dip into the linebacker pool again this draft.

This is an open thread to discuss the combine.
