The 2017 NFL Combine is getting underway.
The NFL offseason starts in earnest this week, as the 2017 NFL Combine takes place in Indianapolis. Over 300 invitees from the college ranks will coverage on Lucas Oil Stadium for a dog-and-pony show in front of the 32 teams that make up the NFL. This is one of the most important events of the NFL season. Just a couple of years ago, a guy named Byron Jones had a phenomenal workout at the combine and parlayed that into a first-round pick by the Cowboys.
The Cowboys head into the combine with some definite needs. Defensive line, especially edge rusher, is one big need, and depending on how they do with their own free agents, cornerback and wide receiver could be additional major categories of need.
The defensive linemen will work out on March 5th for the cameras, so definitely mark that day down. Some of the participants the Cowboys will be eyeing include Derek Barnett, Taco Charlton, Takkarist McKinley and Charles Harris as potential first-round picks.
The wide receivers will work out on March 4th while the defensive backs will close out the combine on March 6th.
