When and how to watch the 2016 NFL draft.
Our long national nightmare is almost over, the NFL draft is almost here. On Thursday night, the Dallas Cowboys will finally, truly start turning the page on a dreadful 4-12 season. The draft will begin at 8 PM EST on Thursday night (April 28th) in Chicago, and we won't have to wait long for the Cowboys to pick. Sure, a 4-12 season was torture to sit through, but the silver lining is that Dallas gets to pick fourth overall. Given that the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles pretty much know who they are picking in spots one and two, the Cowboys pick could come within the first 30 minutes of the draft.
As things stand right now, it appears the Cowboys are looking at the trio of Jalen Ramsey, Ezekiel Elliott or Joey Bosa. Conventional wisdom holds that Jalen Ramsey is at the top of the Cowboys board, so if the San Diego Chargers pass on him and select tackle Laremy Tunsil, then Dallas will pounce. If the Chargers do take Ramsey Dallas will look to either Elliott or Bosa, or pull off a trade down. That is something that could be very popular among the fanbase, allowing the Cowboys to load up on draft picks in the first few rounds.
Dallas will also be picking early in the second round so on day two they will be third pick, an enviable position. The top of the second round is another spot where teams like to trade up to get a player they feel has slipped out of the first round. The Cowboys have never been afraid to trade in the draft, so they could be very active.
