Is Aaron Donald really going to last until the 47th pick?
Could The Cowboys Have Their Cake And Eat It Too?

A recent high profile mock draft brings an interesting scenario into play for Dallas Cowboys fans.
Could The Cowboys Have Their Cake And Eat It Too?
After Aaron Donald's impressive performance at Senior Bowl week, he was a dominating presence in the practice sessions, his stock seem to rise in the eyes of the mock drafters. Suddenly he was appearing in more first-round sections than previously. He's been a favorite of many on this site since then. But lately, we're seeing him drop back down the board in many mocks as people realize that he's not a perfect fit for all schemes, thus removing him from the radar of many teams. One place everybody agrees is a great match for his best skills is Dallas.
So, can the Cowboys wait all the way until the second round and the 47th overall pick? Recent mocks suggest so. Take this one from SB Nation:
16 or 17. Dallas Cowboys - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
Barry Church can be decent at one safety spot, but the Cowboys will be in trouble if they have to continue relying on the likes of Jeff Heath. While they spent a fairly high pick last season on J.J. Wilcox, Clinton-Dix is an undeniably better player. The Cowboys can wait on the depth of the defensive line until the second or third round of the draft.
47. Dallas Cowboys - Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
To get a player of Donald's ability at this point in the second round would be a coup for the Cowboys. Donald fits perfectly in a four-man front that asks him to shoot gaps and get in the backfield.
Many observers like Calvin Pryor over Clinton-Dix, but in this mock he went 13th to St. Louis. Still, overall, this is definitely a draft I could get behind.
Can Dallas wait until their second-round pick to get Aaron Donald if that's who they're targeting? The floor is open.
