News: BTB: NFL Playoff Picture: Cowboys Help Themselves With NFC East Win

The Cowboys continue their march towards the NFC first seed.

Coming into the 2016 season, the Dallas Cowboys had one big goal, win the NFC East. At that time, the NFC East was thought to be a weak division and the only way to make the playoffs was to win the division. Turns out the East is pretty good, but the Cowboys have moved on from just trying to win the division, they’re now focused on winning the NFC first seed, along with the bye and home-field advantage that comes with it. Yesterday, they took another step on that march when they beat Washington 31-26. They got the trifecta from that victory - a win, a win in the conference, and a win in their division.

The NFC playoff picture:

NFC

1. Dallas Cowboys (10-1)
2. Seattle Seahawks (7-2-1)
3. Detroit Lions (7-4)
4. Atlanta Falcons (6-4)
5. New York Giants (7-3)
6. Washington (6-4-1)

Dallas is maintaining its lead on the Seattle Seahawks who are their closest challenger in the NFC. The Cowboys are also a tidy 6-1 in conference play while Seattle is 3-2-1.

The NFC East is still representing with both Washington and New York in the playoff picture pending the games this weekend.
