It’s time for the NFL to start the postseason, and we got your viewing schedule for the whole weekend.
The 2017 NFL Playoffs finally get underway on Saturday, with four games over two days on Wild Card Weekend.
Kicking things off on Saturday will be the battle of the underwhelming quarterbacks. The Oakland Raiders will have to go with untested rookie Connor Cook, since Derek Carr and Matt McGloin are both injured. The Houston Texans counter with Brock Osweiler, who is only playing because the guy who recently took his job, Tom Savage, is hurt.
Saturday night the Detroit Lions will travel to play the Seattle Seahawks. The Lions were the comeback kids for much of the season, winning games in the fourth quarter on a regular basis. Then Matthew Stafford injured his finger and things fell apart. Meanwhile Seattle is not the dominant team it once was, and is wildly inconsistent. As Russell Wilson’s health improved, so did the offense but the loss of Earl Thomas on defense has definitely affected that side of the ball.
Cowboys Fan Alert: If the Lions win, they will be the opponent for Dallas next weekend.
The first game on Sunday features the Miami Dolphins at the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Dolphins are still without Ryan Tannehill at quarterback, instead turning to Matt Moore. What they will do a lot is hand the ball off to Jay Ajayi. The Steelers had an uneven start to the season, including a loss to the Cowboys in the final seconds, but they have been on fire to close out the season.
The final game on Sunday is the battle at Lambeau between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants. Green Bay is another team that struggled for part of the season and lost to Dallas, but then turned it around to close out the year red-hot. The Giants will rely on their free agent defense which has coalesced into a stifling unit in hopes of slowing down Aaron Rodgers.
Cowboys Fan Alert: The winner of this game will face Dallas next week unless the Lions upset the Seahawks.
