A look at where this week's power rankings have the Cowboys and the rest of the NFC East slotted.
Here are this week's power rankings in all their glory.
SI.com - No. 4 (LW: 6)
Cowboys Back Among the Elite: Dak and D got it done against the Chiefs, and the Cowboys look as good as anyone in the NFL right now. It’s a different game if Ezekiel Elliott is going to miss six games after being re-re-re-re-re-suspended, but this team looks like it’s equipped to deal with his absence.
Fivethirtyeight - No. 5 (LW: 9)
Elo ratings are a simple system that estimates each team’s skill level using only the final scores and locations of each game.
NESN - No. 5 (LW: 9)
Ezekiel Elliott somehow is still playing, and the Cowboys’ offensive line is back to playing a high level. Dallas handled the Chiefs on Sunday and will be dangerous as long as Elliott remains eligible.
Sagarin Rating - No. 6 (LW: 8)
These are rankings based on W/L record, points differential and schedule strength.
Washington Post - No. 6 (LW: 11)
The availability of RB Ezekiel Elliott has become a week-to-week matter, with his case back in federal court Thursday. The Cowboys are making the most of things, with an impressive victory Sunday at home over the Chiefs. They go to Atlanta this weekend with a chance to push the reeling Falcons even further back in the NFC wild-card chase.
USA Today - No. 7 (LW: 14)
If Zeke's banishment ever begins, Dallas will need to lean on defense that's allowed average of 15.3 points, 299.3 yards during three-game win streak.
ESPN - No. 8 (LW: 7)
Preseason ranking: 6. There hasn't been much movement for Dallas, but when you start at No. 6, that isn't a bad thing. Dak Prescott is second in the NFL in Total QBR, and Ezekiel Elliott is second in rushing, so these Cowboys might be here to stay.
Yahoo - No. 8 (LW: 13)
It looked like the Cowboys were in for a disappointing follow up to last season, then they’ve taken off the last three games. If it was guaranteed Ezekiel Elliott would be on the field all season this really might be the NFC’s best team (Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali said the Cowboys were the best team in the league, and the Chiefs have faced the Eagles already), but we all know the Elliott situation isn’t resolved.
Here's where Dallas ranks relative to the Eagles, Commanders, and Giants.
