Alot rides on Bortles. If he can rebound then they can be very strong. Unfortunately for them you can only go so far with a weak QB

Yeah but that team has a ton of high draft picks and a running game now. Plus that defense is stacked. Dark horse to come out of no where this year.

With the caveat that power rankings don't matter at all, after one week there are clearly three top teams and everyone else. Of course one game isn't enough to properly gauge anything. But given that one game (and the memory of last year) are all we have to go on, Dallas is in the mix with GB and KC. Anybody placing Dallas lower than 3 isn't giving them an honest evaluation.
I think that's a massive overreaction to one game. NE belongs in any discussion of the top tier of teams until we have much more data suggesting they don't. I don't see any reason to assume that Dallas is clearly better than OAK or ATL, either, not yet anyway.

One game is basically all we have to go by. And the memory of last season.

It's not like NE was light years better than Dallas last year, just one game better in the regular season and two games better in the postseason.

And Oakland is overrated, period. They didn't even win their division last year (couldn't beat KC, with Carr). Atlanta has a decent case but looked like poo against a crappy Chicago team.

Based only on their week 1 performance, I'd include the Vikings in that top group as well which conceivably could place Dallas lower than 3rd and still an honest evaluation.

That's a good point. Minnesota looked remarkable. If their O-line is as improved as it appeared, they could beat GB in the North.

ESPN is such a joke these days. Steelers at #1 wth

If they had any credibility left with me, it completely evaporated after seeing this. Talk about a marketing strategy to draw in one of the NFL's largest fan base. PUKE!!!

I like how a lot of these publications who had the Giants as SB contenders have now kicked them to the curb. They got themselves in a bind. Do I praise the Cowboys for beating a good team?, or do I discredit the win because the Giants are not very good?. I think they chose the later.

I think there's an in between.

The Giants have a very good defense that should keep them in a lot of games.

Talking heads knew that offense was their trouble spot last year with a porous offensive line, Eli being bad Eli, a weak running game and really only one offensive playmaker. They gave too much credit to the Giants fixing that with the additions of Marshall, Evan Engram and maybe even D.J. Fluker.

Being without their primary playmaker against us didn't help, but as long as the Giants can't protect Eli, he's going to be hit and miss and their success is going to depend on the defense. That defense couldn't stop us enough or force turnovers to beat us while our defense played a notch better than it did last season against the Giants (again, with some of that being attributed to OBJ missing).

So, all I think we can glean from that is that we're at least on the same level as we were last year and possibly slightly better depending on if the defensive performance was the result of improvement or playing against a poor offense.

I praise the team for what it showed, with a little discredit because of the offense it faced.

Division is very weak too, although thd Titans could make some noise

Rankings don't mean jack. All that matters is the one ring to rule them all.

If Carr didn't get injured, they may have won their division.
And what makes you think the Raiders are overrated?
They beat a very good Titans team on the road.

The Chiefs owned them and Carr played both games. The jury is out on how good Tennessee actually is.
