Peter King reports that the Eagles are talking to "at least two teams in the mid-round neighborhood." One of those teams might be the Dallas Cowboys.

It's no big secret that the Eagles may be looking to find DeSean Jackson's replacement in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Peter King of MMQB.com reports this morning that the Eagles "want in on the prime receiver action, and the receiver they want could be LSU’s Odell Beckham."

GM Howie Roseman is doing his due diligence, talking to at least two teams in the mid-round neighborhood when Beckham would likely go.

And you know who is sitting right in the middle of that mid-round neighborhood? Your Dallas Cowboys, that's who.

According to King, the Eagles are worried that the cost of trading up may be too rich, but that may not be the case if they move from their current No. 22 spot to the Cowboys' No. 16 spot.

The traditional trade value chart suggests that such a move would probably net the Cowboys at least the Eagles' third-round pick, and might even net them the Eagles' fifth-round pick as well.

If Anthony Barr and Aaron Donald - and perhaps even Zack Martin - are off the board at No. 16, the next six players remaining on the Cowboys draft board at that point could all potentially be graded fairly similarly. Once the first group of 15 or so players are gone, there's a good chance that a second group of players including but not limited to Ryan Shazier, Calvin Pryor, Timmy Jernigan, Jason Verrett, Kony Ealy, Dee Ford and Odell Beckham could all be clustered fairly closely together on the Cowboys' draft board. If that were the case, moving back six spots would allow the Cowboys to still get one of those second-group guys with the added incentive of getting at least a third and possibly also a fifth in return.

The Eagles' interest in Odell Beckham Jr. is well documented, as Brandon Lee Gowton of BGN writes:

Beckham Jr. has drawn some interest from the Eagles during the pre-draft period. He met with the team in Philadelphia for an official pre-draft visit and LSU's pro day was one of the many that Kelly attended. Beckham was also one of the players Kelly recruited while back at Oregon.

The last trade between the Cowboys and Eagles happened in the 2010 draft, when the Cowboys traded their second-round pick (#59-Montario Hardesty) and fourth-round pick (#125-Clay Harbor) for the Eagles' second-round pick (#55-Sean Lee). There is no doubt which team won that trade. Would that be a good omen for another Cowboys / Eagles trade?

In any case, dropping down six spots for an extra pick or two sounds like something that might receive some serious consideration from the Cowboys if their guys are taken early. Unless of course the Eagles decide to trade with the Steelers at No. 15, who themselves have been linked to Odell Beckham. In fact, Vegas has Beckham with the second best odds (4-1) to be the Steelers' top pick, right behind CB Darqueze Dennard at 3-1.
