Pick 256 is a season-long contest in which BTB members and readers get to pick the straight-up winners for all games each week. In Week 2, the consensus picks correctly predicted only eight out of sixteen games, which is a little disappointing but also highlights the any-given-Sunday nature of the game we all follow so closely.
Can the consensus improve on that mark this week?
For the most part, the Week 3 picks in the table on the right suggest the participants took the safe route and went with the favorites (the only exceptions are the Cowboys, Bills and Bengals). But that doesn't make them safe picks, not by a long shot.
Given that most of the participants in the challenge are Cowboys fans, it doesn't come as much of a surprise to see that the panelists are picking the Cowboys over the favored Falcons. And the 88% confidence in a Cowboys win remains high. In fact, it is on par with last week's confidence level, when the Cowboys went up against the heavily favored Eagles in Philly (-6.5) and he humiliated Chip Kelly's minions on national television.
Here's how the fan confidence has played out so far this season:
Week 1 vs Giants: 99%
Week 2 vs. Eagles: 88%
Week 3 vs. Falcons: 88%
What is your confidence level in a Cowboys win right now?
Here's a link to the Excel file with all the picks for Week 3, for those who are interested in tracking the results themselves.
Pick_256_Tracker_2015_-_Week_3.0.xlsx
Once you open the file, you'll see a blue title bar into which you can enter the winning teams to see where you end up among the 323 participants. The title bar is currently only populated with the winner of the Thursday night game, so you'll have to fill in the remaining winners yourself.
If you want to see how many other participants have the exact same picks as you do, simply input your own picks into the blue title bar. You can also live update the spreadsheet on Sunday during the games to see how you're doing as the games are going on.
In any case, have fun with the file and good luck with your picks.
