Meaningful football is back and so the games begin. We're here to give you a few insights to set your fantasy lineups and betting lines in case you choose to make that call to Vegas.
It wouldn't be NFL Kickoff weekend if we didn't get you ready to set your fantasy lineups and check the spreads. Instead of focusing just on Cowboys-centric topics, we're going to give you a little more insight than we may have in the past. Let's start with this week in fantasy football and your must-starts of the week.
NFL Must-Starts Of The Week
Quarterback (2)
Matthew Stafford (Lions) - After ending a disappointing Detroit year on a good note, Stafford is absolutely a start of the week as the Lions get set to take on a struggling Indianapolis Colts defense. The big picture shows his former best-target Calvin "Megatron" Johnson hanging them up. Do not despair, Stafford slings it all over the place and he's got some solid receivers in Anquan Boldin. Marvin Jones, and his new security blanket; Golden Tate. The Colts top two corners in Vontae Davis and Darius Butler are ruled out. Their pass rush is nothing to write home about either with Henry Anderson and Kendall Langford both banged up.
Derek Carr (Raiders) - Another start of the week or weeks is any quarterback who is playing the New Orleans Saints. Carr and the Raiders could be 2016's Cinderella Story as they look to have checked off every box. Good offensive line...check...young upstart quarterback...check...potential pro bowl receiver...check...solid defensive unit...check! Now New Orleans is nowhere near the nightmare place to play as it used to be. The Saints' defense was among the worst teams as far as giving up fantasy points to quarterbacks, allowing 10 300+yard passing games last season. The Saints helped their defensive line in the offseason but it's relatively the same personnel. Carr is familiar with the defensive coordinator in NOLA as Dennis Allen was the head coach of the Raiders that drafted him.
Running Back
Spencer Ware (Chiefs) - Jamaal Charles (29) is still progressing off his ACL tear last October. Now, even if he dresses, it's Ware that will get the majority of the carries. The Chargers kept swinging at upgrading their defense this offseason but it's still a work in progress. Rookie holdout Joey Bosa will not be a factor in this one as he missed the entire offseason over a contract dispute. The Chargers are not looking great when it comes to run-stuffers on their defense. The Chiefs love to run the football as it sets up well for Alex Smith and their play-action west coast offense under Andy Reid. Ware is low-end RB1 but also could be used in the flex for those with a stout running back stable. Give the kid a shot, he just may surprise you.
Cowboys Start of the Week
TE Jason Witten - Go ahead and dust off the 14-year veteran for your fantasy squad this week. Sure, his numbers aren't anywhere near where they used to be but against the Giants is where Witten busts out the Cher tune "If I could Turn Back Time!" In the last six meetings, Witten has scored seven touchdowns, including the game-winner in week one of last season. Jason Witten still has something to offer even if Romo is out for a few more weeks. Dak Prescott is a smart young kid and he'd be wise to look Witten's way.

Your Best Bets For Week One
So here's the dish from our friends over at Vegas Insider, you can check them out for the full slate of betting. Here's who the bookies love for week one in the NFL:
Cincinnati Bengals -2.5 at New York Jets (Over/Under 41.5)
Cincy is fresh off a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs last season. Cincy has opened on the road for the last seven years and has won their last two openers against rival Baltimore Ravens and the Oakland Raiders. Vegas gives the Bengals the best bet of the week as Cincy was 8-0 against the spread last season on the road. Take the Bengals -2.5 points.
Miami Dolphins at Seattle Seahawks (-10.5) (Over/Under 44)
Vegas loves the Seahawks in this matchup and who wouldn't? Seattle is still by far the toughest venue to play in and the Miami Dolphins have not looked like a sharp unit by any stretch of the word this preseason. With a new head coach, you better believe that Pete Carroll is going to have his guys hungry and ready to pounce. Russell Wilson was the NFL's most proficient passer last season as he looks to get his Seahawks back to the top of the NFC. Seattle has hosted home games three times since 2009 and has won each contest by 20 points or more. Go with the Hawks at -10.5 points.
