Two more playoff games to go before the Super Bowl participants are set. This Sunday in the early game we get a classic clash of QBs who have dominated the NFL over the last decade. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will travel to Denver to face Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
The Broncos have been awesome all year long. The game they played against the Cowboys was one of the best games of 2013 even though it didn't come out in the Cowboys favor. Peyton Manning is once again tearing up the league and everything has fallen into place for that team. The Patriots, meanwhile, have had to deal with plenty of issues including the Aaron Hernandez offseason, Rob Gronkowski's injuries, and the loss of key guys on defense. Somehow, Brady keeps that team chugging along.
As a Cowboys fan, it's hard to have a true rooting interest in either of these teams. They are from the AFC, neither have any real connections to Dallas among it's coaches or star players. Yeah, Jack Del Rio once played for Dallas, so I guess there's that, but hardly enough for me to get excited about. Then there's Danny Amendola for the Patriots, a pet cat in Dallas years ago that got away.
I think I'll root for the Patriots. Why? Because as big a jerk as Bill Belichick is portrayed as, and some of it is true, I love the way he refuses to get pulled into anything the press wants to create. His press conferences are hilarious to watch. So that's my slim rationale for rooting for the Patriots.
Who will you be rooting for?
