Who are this year's NFC candidates to make the playoffs after sitting at home last January?
On Friday, we asked you which 2016 playoff teams you thought would not make it back to the playoffs in 2017, and the voting was pretty conclusive, at least at the time I'm writing this. The Lions (66% of the votes) and the Giants (17%) were the favorites to miss the playoffs this year.
Which brings us to our question of the day: Which new teams do you expect to make the playoffs for the NFC this season?
The following ten teams are candidates to make the playoffs in 2017 after failing to make the playoffs in 2016:
Buccaneers (9-7), Commanders (8-7-1), Vikings (8-8), Cardinals (7-8-1), Saints (7-9), Eagles (7-9), Panthers (6-10), Rams (4-12), Bears (3-13), and 49ers (2-14).
We'll put all ten teams up for a vote below, even if the chances of some teams appear pretty slim. In previous years, 10 wins have usually meant a playoff berth, barring the occasional exception where teams with lower win totals backed into the playoffs. For many of the teams above, improving to 10 wins will likely be quite a challenge, let alone making it all the way to the Super Bowl.
To date, a total of 13 teams in the NFL have never won a Super Bowl. Six of them play in the NFC (the Eagles, Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, Falcons, and Lions have never won a Super Bowl), and four of them are trying to make it back into the playoffs this year, even if the ultimate goal may continue to elude them, as some fans are keenly aware:
Who's your pick to make it back to the playoffs this season after not making it last year? Leave your thoughts in the comments and place your vote in the attached poll.
