We got a sneak peek at what could be the Cowboys linebacker lineup for the Giants game.
After losing starting linebackers Sean Lee and Justin Durant for up to a month, the Cowboys will now have to stitch together a linebacker corps. Today, we got a glimpse of what that will likely look like for the Giants game after the bye week. Starting in the middle was Ernie Sims, on the weak side was Bruce Carter and returning from injury on the strong side was rookie DeVonte Holloman.
The Cowboys practice today was a no-pads affair, but it was still good to see Holloman back. It's not guaranteed he will be able to play, he needs to go through some contact first which should happen next week. Holloman injured his neck in practice about a month ago but the Cowboys think he might play, and if he plays he's likely to start. Dallas is also toying with the idea of having Kyle Wilber play some linebacker as a backup or emergency option.
Miles Austin and Jason Hatcher both participated in the practice. DeMarcus Ware did not but Dallas will likely rest him as much as possible. We'll have to wait until next week to see if Morris Claiborne and J.J. Wilcox can return.
