Looks like one Cowboys’ luck is running out.
The Dallas Cowboys summer of discontent rolls on. TMZ Sports reports that wide receiver Lucky Whitehead was arrested back in June for shoplifting, a story that somehow everyone missed, and was supposed to show up for an arraignment on July 6th. Naturally, he didn’t show so now an arrest warrant has been issued.
According to TMZ:
The 25-year-old was busted in Prince William County, VA on June 22 for shoplifting/petit larceny under $200. We're told Whitehead allegedly took stuff from a convenience store.
He was ordered to appear in court on July 6, but according to court records he didn't show up -- so a warrant was issued for his arrest. He's since been charged for failure to appear.
This might finally spell the end for Whitehead who has been on thin ice since he was benched late last year and didn’t travel with the team to a road game for missing meetings. Whitehead’s production as a return man has been cratering, and he’s never made strides at being a regular receiver. The only thing he does well is run the jet sweep.
The Cowboys went ahead and drafted Ryan Switzer int he fourth round of the draft, and he can take over the return duties that Whitehead has been handling. In addition, he seems to be a better bet to contribute as a slot receiver and can also run gadget plays.
