The Cowboys scouting shakeup continues.
Less than two weeks ago it was reported that the Cowboys were losing their west coast area scout to the Oakland Raiders. Jim Abrams became their director of college scouting.
It appears as if Abrams has been working diligently over these last 10 days as Dallas is losing yet another scout to the Bay Area (soon to be Las Vegas) squad. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Walter Juliff is also heading out of the door.
The Cowboys have lost their second scout to the Oakland Raiders with Walter Juliff leaving to join Mike Mayock’s staff, according to sources. The Raiders named Jim Abrams, the Cowboys’ West Coast scout, as their director of college scouting after the draft. Juliff spent 31 years with the Cowboys and served as a national scout for the last eight years.
As it’s mentioned, Juliff spent over three decades with the Dallas Cowboys. That’s a long time to be at any profession which means moving isn’t exactly something that was thought of lightly.
31 years also takes us back to 1988, a time well before even The Triplets roamed Texas Stadium and the minds of NFC East opponents. Walter Juliff was part of the Cowboys contingent that preceded Jerry Jones which means he was around the likes of Tom Landry, Tex Schramm, and Gil Brandt. It’s been that long.
Such is life, isn’t it? Time goes on, people move, and things change. Cheers to Walter Juliff enjoying for the Raiders, 31 years of service is worth a round of applause.
