Jonathan Cooper was with the Cowboys briefly at the end of last year, now they will bring him back for 2017.

Cooper was briefly with the Cowboys last year at the end of the season. Dallas signed him at the start of the playoffs but he never saw any action. At the time it was widely speculated that the Cowboys were trying to get a read on Cooper for a possible deal this offseason. They must have liked what they saw enough to bring him back.
The Cowboys offensive line is going through a mini-shakeup with Ron Leary leaving in free agency and Doug Free retiring. One possible scenario would be to move La’el Collins out to right tackle and plug another player into the left guard position. Cooper may get a shot at being that player.
Cooper was a first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 (seventh overall), but never was able to live up to those expectations. He was sent to New England in the Chandler Jones deal, then released and picked up by Cleveland. The Browns released him at the end of the season. That’s quite a fall for a guy who was once thought to be a huge talent at guard. We’ll see if the Cowboys coaches can fix him.
