The Cowboys may be welcoming back the “Dancing Bear” soon enough as talks have moved towards a contract.

The Cowboys are in the market for a 1-tech defensive tackle and they have been interested in a reunion with Terrell McClain all along. Apparently, those talks included a workout and the Cowboys were very pleased with what they saw:

The #Cowboys visit with DT Terrell McClain went well and contract talks are escalating, I’m told. It also included a workout in front of coaches, many of whom are familiar from his time in Dallas.

If these talks are heating up there may be a deal to bring back the “Dancing Bear” to Dallas. Terrell McClain had his best season while he was a Dallas Cowboy. In 2016, McClain had 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Last season in Washington those numbers were cut in half. One season after signing a three-year, $21 million extension, McClain was shown the door. Terrell McClain would be a great addition to a Cowboys defense and would allow Maliek Collins to play at the 3-tech position, which is where Collins had five sacks as a rookie.

The addition of McClain would add to a depth chart that consists of David Irving, Maliek Collins, Brian Price, and Jihad Ward. If you mix that up with the outside presences of the All-Pro sack-leader DeMarcus Lawrence, Taco Charlton, Tyrone Crawford, and Dorance Armstrong, that defensive line is looking as strong as ever.
