After a burst of news concerning the domestic violence allegation aimed at Dallas Cowboys' running back Ezekiel Elliott by an ex-girlfriend, the subject had gone relatively quiet. According to TMZ.com, that might change as the accuser has made no indications to the Columbus city prosecutors office that she is dropping the case.

The city attorney's office confirms the accuser has already spoken with investigators and doesn't appear to want to drop the case anytime soon.

"We currently have an open investigation," a rep for the Columbus City Attorney tells TMZ Sports.

"We are collecting as much evidence as possible. Once the investigation is complete, our office will determine if there is sufficient evidence to establish probable cause. Basically, whether there is enough evidence to charge him or not."

After there was so little news following the initial story, it left some wondering whether an investigation would continue into the matter, especially after the police reports indicated there were no witnesses could confirm any kind of altercation on the night in question. Based on this, the investigation will continue and Elliott may still have to defend himself in some way.

As was noted previously, Elliott firmly denies the allegations and believes that the accuser has other motives in bringing these allegations forward, hinting that she threatened to ruin him if he broke up with her. Sources claim that Elliott has some kind of phone/text messages that will back up this claim.

Meanwhile, Elliott is heading out to Oxnard to participate in the Cowboys training camp which begins with a Saturday practice. Yesterday, coach Jason Garrett commented briefly on the Elliott situation.

"I don't want to comment too much on that," Garrett said Tuesday from a coaches clinic at AT&T Stadium. "We believe we know all about Ezekiel Elliott and what he's all about as a person, and I think it would be premature to make any comment beyond that."
