Rob Ryan's hiring and the on-going lockout are thought to give the Cowboys some growing pains, as his players may have some trouble picking up his complex schemes on the fly. However, a look at the Dallas' 2011 schedule shows that Ryan can get his new guys off to a quicker start than expected -- given a realistic amount of pre-season prep time.

The key is in Cleveland's 2010 schedule. Put it and Dallas' upcoming schedule side-by-side, and you'll see five common opponents. Ryan's Browns faced the AFC East in their inter-conference rotation.

That's out of the box thinking and logical insight. To a degree speculative but fact just as much.

If the defense keeps offenses under 17 points....I would almost wet myself. I think this team would be pretty scary if that were to happen.

Well they beat the Patriots, holding their offense to 14 points. They lost to the Jets holding their offense to 26 points, they lost in overtime. They held Miami to 10 points, defeating them, and then they held buffalo to 13 points, yet still lost.

Let me count how many times his defense held an opposing team to 20 points or less.

10 times... of which their team still lost 6 games...

With a properly working dallas offense and even the defense from Cleveland he probably wins at least 12 games.

Their defense was 13th in the NFL in points allowed, which I'm sure is a bit skewed with that week 17 loss against Pittsburgh where McCoy throws 3 interceptions and went 6-17 on 3rd down.

Our offense is ranked 7th in points scored (With Kitna at the helm for more than half the games), where as the browns were 31st in the nfl. We average about 8 points more per game then they did, WITHOUT Romo.

I think most people would say that our defense is more talented than the Browns defense, so there is no reason other than perhaps lack of preparation as to why we can't have a great defense next year, and with our offense hopefully more consistent... We should have a great overall team.

I still think we need to get michael huff to replace Alan Ball, which should put us over the top. I'm all for Nnamdi as well, but we probably won't be able to afford him.

Would that be too far fetched?

He could be coaching the team right now as a coach not under contract.

I want more. I want domination and with the players Dallas has they should be able to do it especially with a veteran FS.

Regardless of the common opponents we'll have with those that the Browns had under Ryan, it'll still be tough for a time as Cowboys players make the adjustment to Ryan's complex schemes. The sooner the new CBA is settled, the more time we'll have to school our defense. Gotta hope we're as much on the brink of settling this thing as we'd all like to believe. Let's face it, yesterday wouldn't be too soon.

The Cowboys AFC opponents this season? The AFC East.

The Cowboys also face the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Browns week one opponents this past year. Ryan has five ready-made game plans he can pull off the shelf if he has to prep his team on short time this year. He will certainly rely on them, whether he has a lot of a little bit if time to mold his new unit....
