The Broncos have done the first part in luring Tony Romo by signing his former left guard Ronald Leary.

The dominoes keep falling but it’s not like this one wasn’t already expected, Ronald Leary will join the Denver Broncos on a four-year, $35 million deal.

The first day of free agency is always frantic and people are looking for significant upgrades. Ronald Leary is perhaps the best guard on the market and now he goes to a team that needs a significant boost on theri line. Leary was undrafted out of Memphis but was given the highest offer for a UDFA that season. He started as a left guard for the Cowboys in their magical 2014 season that saw DeMarco Murray rush for 1,845 yards.

He was lost in the shuffle when the Cowboys lucked into signing first-round prospect La’el Collins, who also went UDFA after the one of the biggest draft debacles in NFL history. Collins also was the most sought after undrafted free agent of all time. Leary was placed squarely in a backup role for most of 2015.

After an injury sidelined Collins in 2016, Leary was put right back in as the man at left guard. The Cowboys had another stellar season with the emergence of rookie sensations Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Leary will be guaranteed $20 million in his new deal with Denver and could be a high bargaining piece to lure Tony Romo, once he officially becomes a free agent.
