The verdict is in, the Dallas Cowboys are the best team in the division.

Our ten part roster breakdown series has officially concluded and the Dallas Cowboys are the unequivocal winners. The previous articles in this series can be found here: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, O-line, D-Line, LBs, Secondary, Coaching and Front Office. Let’s take a look at the final results and division ranking for the 2017 NFC East.

Division Champ: Dallas Cowboys (Average 3.1/4 points per category)

The Dallas Cowboys check into the first place for the division rankings because of their superiority on offense and consistency at coaching. The Cowboys received the most points at the quarterback, running back, tight end, offensive line and coaching positions. The worst they ranked was third at defensive line. As a result, Dallas enters the 2017 as the predicted champ of the division. Anything short of a division title will be a disappointment for the Cowboys.

Second Place: New York Giants (Average 2.4/4 points per category)

The New York Giants are riding into the 2017 division race behind superstars at wide receiver, defensive line and secondary as well as a front office with a strong pedigree. The Giants enter the division with the best defense but their ability to overtake Dallas will come down to how strong their receivers can control time of possession. Last season, the Giants beat the Cowboys both times the teams played, but the Giants lost separation with two critical losses to Washington and Philadelphia at the end of the season.

Third Place: Philadelphia Eagles (Average 1.9/4 points per category)

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the season with a third place standing based on our recent roster breakdowns. They have the top group of linebackers in the division and this will be especially important against the high-flying Cowboys and Giants offenses. The Eagles fate will be determined by the success of sophomore quarterback Carson Wentz and sophomore coach Doug Pederson. Last season, the Eagles went 2-4 in division, and arguably would have gone 1-5 had the Cowboys not taken week 17 off. In order for the Eagles to place better than third in the division, they must perform better against division opponents.

Last Place: Washington Commanders (Average 1.7/4 points per category)

The Washington Commanders will finish last this season because of their lack of talent, stability and consistency. With the exception of Kirk Cousins, newly signed Terrell Pryor and newly drafted Jonathan Allen, the Commanders are yearning for talent. Standing alone, head coach Jay Gruden can be successful but he works with a front office in flux and a revolving door of coordinators. The Commanders are the only ream in the division that did not have a top seed in any roster breakdown category. As a result, look for the Commanders to place fourth in the division this year.

Summary

Dallas Cowboys: 31 points

New York Giants: 24 points

Philadelphia Eagles: 19 points

Washington Commanders: 17 points
