News: BTB: SB Nation Mock Draft: There's No Such Thing As Too Much D-Line Depth

As we enter the final pre-draft stretch, SB Nation rings in the new week with a brand new mock that has a few surprises in store.

If you've grown tired of the saturation-level coverage of Aaron Donald and the other defensive tackles in this year's draft, you're just plain out of luck. Because according to the latest SB Nation mock draft, there is no such thing as too much depth along the defensive line.

But before we get to the Cowboys' pick, let's look at what happens ahead of No. 16 in Ryan Van Bibber's SB Nation mock draft.

• No. 8: The 49ers trade up into the Top Ten to grab Odell Beckham Jr., which means there are three wide receivers drafted in the first eight picks.
• No. 11: The Titans, whom many had seen as being in play for an edge rusher or linebacker, pick a corner in Justin Gilbert.
• No. 12: The Giants pick Zack Martin (Ebron had gone No. 9 to the Bills), which leaves OT Taylor Lewan on the board, and leads the Ravens to promptly trade up into the 13th spot and grab Lewan.
• After that, Chicago grabs Clinton-Dix and the Steelers pick Louis Nix.

Which leaves the Cowboys with their choice of two premier picks, Aaron Donald and Anthony Barr. Who do they pick in this mock?

16. Dallas Cowboys: Aaron Donald, DT, Pitt

What's not to like about Donald? Go back and read Stephen White's breakdown on the Pitt defensive tackle. From a repertoire of pass-rushing moves rare for a college kid to a reliable run stuffer, Donald does it all. White also notes that he'd be a perfect fit for Rod Marinelli in Dallas, White's old coach. So what if he overlaps with Henry Melton? I've never heard anyone complain about a defensive line being too deep.

You never know how the draft falls, and more importantly, you don't know what the Cowboys draft board looks like (until perhaps after the draft), so it's far from a foregone conclusion that the Cowboys will draft a DT with their first pick. But from where we are sitting today, getting Donald without trading up would be great news on Thursday night.

And really, there is only one downside to this whole mock (outside of the fact that it is a mock draft). Anthony Barr, whom some value even over Aaron Donald, falls all the way to No. 22, where the Eagles pick the UCLA product to shore up their pass rush.

So, while it's still possible to dream about scenarios like this, if both Barr and Donald were available for the Cowboys at No. 16 on Thursday, which of them would you pick?
