Another Sean Lee injury would make anyone nervous.

The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with a situation that happens a lot, an injury to Sean Lee putting his status in doubt. Lee injured his knee in the Seahawks preseason game and hasn't practiced since although he has been doing some work on the side. The Cowboys decided to do an MRI on the knee of the linebacker on Monday, and while the results were mostly positive, there is still a little bit of doubt. Jason Garrett addressed the issue today. According to Garrett, the MRI results were positive and that they don't think the injury will keep him out of the season opener.

But notice the careful phrasing that they don't think this will affect his status for the game on September 11th against the New York Giants. That still leaves some doubt, and that is definitely not what the Cowboys need right now. After dealing with the loss to injury of their quarterback on offense, the Cowboys can not afford to lose their quarterback on defense to injury. We all know Lee's extensive injury history, and when talking about knees, it makes it all that much worse.

If Lee were to miss any time, the Cowboys would be without their two best linebackers and would have to rely on an assortment of young players in Anthony Hitchens and Damien Wilson, along with veteran Justin Durant. For a team that already has struggles along the defensive line, having a replacement-level linebacker corps would certainly not help issues.

We'll have to wait and see if Lee can come back fully healthy before the first game, but it's certainly a problem the deal would not like to be dealing with at the moment.
