It doesn’t look like defensive end Randy Gregory will be able to help the Cowboys this season.

The Dallas Cowboys will be without defensive end Randy Gregory until Week 15 of the 2016 season, according to various NFL sources. Gregory was already serving a four-game suspension to start the season, but will now be hit with an additional 10-game suspension. Reports are that he has withdrawn his appeal of that additional suspension.

There was hope earlier in the offseason when erroneous reports surfaced that he would only be suspended for the first four games of the season. The Cowboys are already waiting on defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence who is currently serving his own four-game suspension, and there was hope at that time that both may return at the same time, or at least close to that time.

Today’s report makes it clear that won’t happen. Gregory will have to prove he is healthy before the Cowboys will start thinking about playing him in games, hopefully his recent stint in rehab has set him on that path.
