The combatants are set for the Super Bowl and this time there really is no surprise. The Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos have been the two best teams in their respective conferences for much of the year. So the fact that both advanced to this year's Super Bowl should been seen as a just reward for outstanding regular seasons from both teams.
The two teams set up an easy storyline from the start. Peyton Manning and his arsenal of powerful receivers versus the Seahawks punishing defense that features arguably the best secondary in football. Flipping the script the Seahawks feature Marshawn Lynch and his "beast mode" running style versus a Broncos defense that is very strong against the run. Irresistible forces meet unmovable objects setting up an interesting clash.
Of course the Cowboys took their shot at the Broncos this season, coming out on the losing end of an epic game, 51-48. That game is mostly remembered for the Tony Romo late interception, but the three-plus quarters before that letdown was an offensive explosion that featured the Cowboys offense going toe-to-toe with the Manning Broncos.
I'm going to stick with the Seattle Seahawks as my choice. They are NFC, I love the way they play defense and I'm still mad we lost to the Broncos earlier this year.
