The Cowboys bring back one of their starters in rceiver Terrance Williams.

Most observers of the Dallas Cowboys had written free agent Terrance Williams out of the organization’s plans. He would be too expensive the thinking went. Turns out, Williams is returning to the Cowboys on a 4-year deal according to Ian Rapoport.

Without knowing all the details such as guaranteed money, those terms look very favorable for the Cowboys. Just over $4 million a year comes in far under what was initially projected.

UPDATE: Details from Todd Archer

Terrance Williams' contract with the Cowboys is four years, $17 million with $9.5 million guaranteed, according to a source. Cowboys keep a starter at a good price and Williams remains in his hometown.

Jerry Jones must have been serious when he said the wide receiver was one of the two positions that he thought the Cowboys needed to solidify to for the 2017 season. A couple of days ago they brought back Brice Butler, and now they get Williams under contract.

Williams as served as a very adequate, if not overwhelming, number two receiver to Dez Bryant’s number one. He’s capable of making the big plays, he just has never been consistent about it. He’s a very capable and willing blocker for the Cowboys run game, and has been remarkably durable during his time in Dallas. The Cowboys certainly know what they’re getting in Williams, and add to a position that has been upgraded across the NFC East - wide receiver.

Welcome back T Will.
