An NFC East rival poaches the Cowboys defensive line.

McClain had been one of the Cowboys hottest players on the free agent market, drawing supposed interest from multiple teams. Washington has been rumored to be after McClain for days, and it looks like they got their man.
McClain was a solid player for the Cowboys when he was healthy, but that was the issue. He had a few seasons that were interrupted by injury. 2016 was his best season here and the one that earned him a nice payday from Washington.
He was credited with helping the Cowboys become the number one run defense in the NFL last season, but he is also disruptive in the passing game. He possesses a quick first step and can force a quarterback to move off the spot. The Cowboys played him mostly as their 1-tech tackle and he was backed up by Cedric Thornton.
With Maliek Collins situated as the starting 3-tech, the Cowboys could roll with Thornton at the 1-tech, or move one of their defensive ends with versatility into the middle rotation. They also could look at the draft or perhaps a budget free agent to help fill in.
