Newman had an outstanding, healthy Terence Newman line (6 attempts, 2 completions, a microscopic 2.1 YPA) in the first 28 minutes of each half, but gave up two huge YPA-inflating plays in the waning moments of each half. Michael Clayton got behind Newman for a 47 yarder in the last ten seconds of the first half and Newman gave up a 19 yard pass on Tampa's final drive, when Dallas was playing a very soft prevent.

what's hard to understand does Newman generally give up 8 completions per game or not?

The final stats are what they are:50% success rate, 8 total completions and then the 2 fairly big completions. Newman never got close to making a play on a ball.

What, you thought he had a pro bowl game?

mea culpa*** I see how I misread his stat line.
He gave up 4 passes on 8 attempts which makes a lot more sense and is a sane Newman line.

I'd still say it was a somewhat down game for him but certainly not as bad as what I read into the statline initially.

Newman played fine. The only big reception was the Clayton one before the half and I'll take that coverage every time. Perfect throw and an amazing catch.
