The BTB writers weigh in with their picks for the Week 1 games.
The Cowboys will kick off the 2014 NFL season on Sunday afternoon, which means it's time for us to kick off our time-honored BTB tradition of having the front-page writers embarrass themselves publicly by picking their winners for each NFL weekend.
Here at BTB, we're very objective about our lack of objectivity. Most of us pick the Cowboys to win every game regardless of who the opponent is, and this week is no different - the Cowboys are our unanimous favorites against the 49ers, and for good reason: the Cowboys have an NFL best .676 (36-17-1) winning percentage in season openers, and even the much maligned Jason Garrett is 2-1 in season openers.
This year, in addition to the front page writers, were adding a column for the BTB users who are participating in our Pick 256 challenge.
Pick 256 is a season-long contest in which BTB members and readers get to pick the straight-up winners for all games each week. If you haven't yet submitted your picks yet, now would be a good time, here's the link to the entry form.
Week 1 Pick 256 Entry Form
We currently have a little over 350 pick submissions, which means there's plenty of room for more. If you haven't done so yet, you can still submit your picks until kickoff of the Packers @ Seahawks game tonight. You can see where the popular vote is trending for each game (as per early this morning) in the table below, which shows the Week 1, 2014 picks for the BTB writers and the BTB users.
