The first quarter of the NFL season is in the books, and 17 teams are are currently either in first place or within a game of the top spot in their division.
So while not every team has gotten off to a 4-0 start, the season is far from over for most teams. Here's a look at the playoff odds after four weeks since the league moved to the current divisional alignment in 2002:
Playoff odds based on Week 4 W/L records, since 2002
Record after Week 4 4-0 3-1 2-2 1-3 0-4
Total Teams 34 90 113 77 38
Playoff Teams 28 54 41 9 0
Percentage 82.4% 60.0% 36.3% 11.7% 0.0%
While the 0-4 teams are busy preparing for the draft, most other teams are still angling for the playoffs, and while it helps to be 4-0 in that endeavor, 2-2 teams still have their destiny in their own hands. Consider that there were six 2-2 teams – Denver, Green Bay, Indianapolis, New England, Seattle and Washington – that made the playoffs last season, four of them even ended up as division winners (Broncos, Packers, Patriots and Commanders).
That’s the NFL for you. So entering Week 5, while it certainly helps to be near the top of the standings, don’t count anyone out. Except the Giants and the Steelers (plus the two Florida teams not based in Miami). Here are our picks for Week 5, 2013.

The over/under for Broncos @ Cowboys is set at 57, the highest value for any game this week. But that number is still surprisingly low, considering that the Broncos have averaged 44.8 points per game so far, while the Cowboys have average 26. Combined, that's over 70 points.
Will we see a shootout on Sunday, and do the Cowboys stand a chance in a shootout?
