The Blogging The Boys writers pick the Week 7 NFL games, and it looks like it's going to be a home team weekend, not just in Dallas.
Sitting pretty atop the league with a 5-1 record, Cowboys fans may have lost sight of what's going on elsewhere in the league.
Six weeks into the NFL season, the standings remain close in many divisions, and nearly half of the league (15 of 32 clubs) has a winning record. Since 1990, 210 of the league’s 288 playoff teams (72.9 percent) had a winning record after six games.
But nothing is a given in the NFL. More than a quarter of the playoff clubs since 1990 (78 of 288, 27.1 percent) had a .500 record or below after six games, including three teams from last year’s postseason field (Carolina, Philadelphia and San Diego).
Which means a lot of teams have everything to play for as they fight for playoff berths. The oddsmakers this week see a strong weekend for the home teams, as 12 of the 15 Week 7 games have the home teams as favorites. And for the most part, our panel of BTB writers also favors the home teams.
But all of the above ranks a distant second to the key question Cowboys fans are asking themselves this week: Will the Cowboys beat the Giants?
"Of course they will," say all nine BTB writers, as well as 99% of the fans. And without further ado, here are our picks for Week 7, 2014.
