Having gone to school in Nawlins and after hearing about last year's game for several months, my first thought was that revenge is so sweet.
Ten months ago the New Orleans Saints spanked the Dallas Cowboys 49-17 in the Crescent City. Before a national audience on Sunday night, Jason Garrett's team got a measure of revenge for that beatdown as they dominated the opposition from the get-go. How dominant were the Cowboys?
Al michaels just identified the coin flip as the turning point of the game. I am not kidding

Michaels' statement pretty much sums it up. The Dallas Cowboys came out of the locker room and immediately took charge, playing one of the best halves of football that has been seen in recent memory. Taking the ball to start the game, Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense ate up half of the first quarter before putting the game's first tally on the board. Rod Marinelli's defense got into the act as well. Bruce Carter, whom I have taken to task many times on these pages, looked like the player we all knew he could be. On Sunday he led the team in tackles and had a pair of passes defensed, including one where he tipped the ball to teammate Justin Durant for an interception. The Cowboys D held the Drew Brees led high powered offense scoreless during the first two stanzas of the game
All told, it was one of those days that coaches and players dream of. The offensive line was opening holes in former Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's Saint defense and DeMarco Murray made them pay dearly. Not only did Murray run for his fourth straight 100-yard game and score a pair of touchdowns, his effectiveness forced Ryan to play eight men in the box to stop the run. This opened up the passing game for Romo and his corps of receivers. Romo went 22 for 29 passing for 262 yards and three scores. He did not throw an interception.
Terrance Williams was the Dallas receiver who capitalized the most from Murray's efforts. Williams hauled in six balls for 77 yards andcaught two of Romo's touchdown passes. His counterpart, Dez Bryant, hauled in the other Dallas score late in the game, helping to seal the win. Bryant had three catches and 44 yards playing with a shoulder injury. Romo's security blanket, tight end Jason Witten, didn't find the endzone but he had some key catches as well, including a key first down catch late in the game.
If the Dallas Cowboys can continue their winning ways, the Sunday night game will serve as the coming out party for the team. This team is playing as just that, a team. They are a gritty and hard working bunch and credit for that must be given to the leaders on the team. One thing that can be said for the Cowboys under Jason Garrett; they don't quit. Now the fans are seeing some results of those efforts. Right now there are 53 players on the roster who believe in themselves and are playing hard. Will it be enough? I am not yet willing to say it will, but I like what we are seeing. As he walked off of the field Sunday night Dez Bryant made a telling statement that reveals how the Cowboys feel about themselves.
