Morris and McF will put up similar numbers as Zeke this year because Zeke was having a bad season to date. I still feel we end up 9-7 will PO hopes.

Dak is going to eat for sure.

The only positive I think that can come out of this is it may force the coaches to try and be creative, but that's a long shot.

If I was opposing defense's I'd still stack that box. I mean we haven't shown any real ability to throw the ball downfield even with Zeke and defenses can kill our first down yardage even more. Why stop now with a lesser back?

I mean it makes our bootleg off play-action less effective..

DMC brings very good pass protection and a very good receiver out of the backfield. Morris is just meh in every way. But let's be real here. Both are GREAT options as your 2nd and 3rd RBs. Also I would really prefer to see Smith play over both of them until he proves he's no good or that he's better than them.

That is a good point, blocking and catching. I didn't take those into consideration, but honestly I don't see catching as a 'positive' here since we seem to have totally abandoned using the RB as a catcher unless it's a checkdown. I think we have even reduced our use of RB screens, but i haven't watched quite a few full games.

Morris is NOT a better RB than McFadden. However, I think the Cowboys realized they had the pecking order wrong last season and made the change this season. McFadden is the better all-around back, like Zeke as the horse and equipped for 3rd downs. However, he's not Zeke, nor can he carry the entire load as Zeke can. So what do you actually do with Morris? He's not a viable 3rd down back, so all he can really do is give the Starter a blow on run plays. It makes much more sense to have Morris be the starting RB with McFadden as the change of pace and 3rd down back. If McFadden gets hot and Morris doesn't, then McFadden will get more snaps or series or even a quarter here and there, but we need a change of pace guy from the starter and a 3rd down back who can be counted on for blocking and receiving....that's not Morris.

Smith may even have a role in this approach as a blocking FB, screen passes, short yardage.

Of course, I'm not actually certain Zeke won't still win his case ultimately, but this seems to be the way the Cowboys are thinking about the position if Zeke is actually out.

Would be curious if the tandem of Alf and McF can put up similar rushing numbers.
Sort of excited to see Alf get the main chunk of carries. Still think he has it in him.
Exactly. 3.6 ypc shouldn't be that hard to match, and even if Morris and McFadden avg slightly less if we lose games it won't be because of an avg of a foot a carry IMO.

Yes, especially an offensive shake up since they are the real problem right now.
I'm not sure where the blame should go, ill leave that to others for now. I know 2-3 is not a proper place. Will see.
We need a shake up from the top down but it's never going to happen.
Well if EE is not going to be playing that might bring a sort of shake up.

Always like his play.
Even when with Washington.
Hated him as a skin but still admired his punch!
