Great explanation of what went wrong.

It was almost as if Dallas became arrogant, thinking that they could run regular depth patterns with Romo holding the ball a long time and it was still going to work.

I SMH in that they didn't make adjustments to beat the Washington blitz.

Where were the screens and draw plays? I call stupidity not arrogance. It's mind boggling.

For certain they're going to see the same cover 0 blitz this week - it's a copy cat league. They better be ready.

80% of what happens in a football game, good or bad, is a direct result of how the QB performed. Though it is a team game, the QB is the biggest piece to that puzzle. You understand that right? 2 games romo has played poorly this year. No denying it.

So let me guess, it's everyone else's fault? For 100M i expect romo to audible to a simple drag route to beat the blitz, dont you? Read the article, they drew it up for you. If the protection isn't right, that's on the qb. When the defense is showing blitz and the QB audibles to a slow developing play, that's on the QB. Linehan is at fault as well, for getting away from the run. But who knows how much romo's audibles played into that.

So you tell me, Who's fault is it dallas couldn't beat the blitz? Play by play, who is at fault if not romo.

80%? Wow, that DeMarco Murray sure is good to have such an impact with his meager effect on the game. Stop making up imaginary football concepts, you're embarrassing. You know what there's no denying? You sure were QUIET, during the 6 game winning streak, about how important the QB is. I can't find nary a mention of it in your posting history. I can't find a single mention of you saying that Romo is 80% responsible for our 6-1 start. Why is that?

To answer your question, I prefer to yield to Travis Frederick's statement, that there is no one single person responsible for it. And yes, Romo had a bad game.

the play he got hurt on, which should have been an east slant to Dez that could have been a TD but he wasn't even running a slant, and not seeing Beasley there at the end of regulation, that's very frustrating

great breakdown

Great to learn its all on Romo 80 percent. So then he is 6-2 right up there with or better than any QB in the league even the elites. I guess I missed your week long gushings over him after all those wins..

80%? Really? 2000 Ravens won the SB because of their QB?

How about that Adrian Peterson guy and the Vikings offense past few years?

That, and let's not kid ourselves. Romo is not elite in regards to reading blitzes and coverages. Good, yes. But some of this is what Peyton Manning would eat for lunch.

I disagree...even post game tony was called out as one of the best in the game at reading coverages and making adjustments. Remember though...what happens pre-snap is only part of the picture....some of it is guesswork and getting lucky.

Agreed.

But why not go that route in the 3rd quarter in Washington game? That's what's stunning.

Yeah this is a little scary because it is reminiscent of past failures this staff has had with mid-game adjustments. Hopefully Linehan can figure this thing out and quick. Something as simple as sending the house every play shouldn't have the ability to derail a season. But nonetheless here we are and how the Cowboys adjust will go a long way in determining if this is indeed a new team or the same old same old.

Why is Beasly still not looking at romo on sack 2 and why is harris still running the route even though he clearly sees clark come in for the blitz, simple adjustments, some blamed romo..i saw a play where beasley didnt know what play was called again for the third week straight these WRs aside from Williams and Bryant need to step up

Good stuff. i would add that this is hardly the first game where Martin screwed the pooch chasing outside. I would also point to who Murray/Witten seem intent on overprotecting missing where the blitz came from. While that might be a lesson in itself in overreaction, I don't think I am the only one to notice it.

This ineptitude is compounded by the fact that Haslett always brings the house and usually succeeds in confusing us

This was completely predictable but we had no plan for it

That is on the coaches

Our coaches must be as dumb as a bag of rocks, seriously. Just look at those photos, that is some Madden chit right there. How the hell professional football coaches that have coordinated offense for years and years can look at those photos and not have any idea what to do is just mind numbing. You should be running slants, screens, posts, dig routes, this should have been like taking candy from a baby.

But no, our coaches decide that running go routes with the receivers back to the QB 20 yards down field against an 8 man blitz is the better call..................LMAO..............they cannot be this dumb, I almost think they were trying to throw the game on purpose looking at those pictures.

And Garrett............wow.............you just stand there on the sideline watching your offensive coordinator getting schooled like a Madden noob and you don't say a dam word to him? Seriously? If I am the head coach and I take a look at those photos, I am over in my OC's face asking him how much money he has on the Skins, because that is the only explanation for this kind of play calling. I tell him I better see some dam slants or bubble screens next series or I am taking his headset from him.

Appears someone wanted to hit the big ESPN highlight play, and in theory it should've happened at some point. They were not patient at all. When the Skins had both ends of the line stacked with guys coming, why not come with a quick count and hit the A gap between Fred and Martin with Murray---pop that baby once or twice and we win the game. Instead we sat in a long pre-snap count letting them jump in and out and dictate to us.
****
In another BTB article...........stats show Haslett blitzed Romo 100% all game on 3rd downs

Just as I was starting to get over this loss, I had to come and read this.

This coaching staff is still incompetent.

Looking at then All 22 still shots just makes me sick, I couldn't understand why we didn't run slats or drag routes.

This. Dez is the best slant rout runner in the NFL. And we didn't take advantage of the rookie that was covering him? Sickening.

QB 's audible to good running plays, too. It all starts with the qb. Look at how much qb ' s are paid compared to rb's. It's that simple.

According to you 80% of what happens in a football game, good or bad, is a direct result of how the QB performed.

And you are argument is based on the how much they are paid?
I don't know any QB in the league that is getting paid 80% of the total team salary.

QB's play is very important but it's nowhere near 80%. If that was the case, Denver would have won the SB last year.
