Take notes, Spagnola, and fellow "homer's." If you're going to write from a homer's perspective, this is how you do it.

At present moment, nobody seems to believe in the Cowboys, but they should. According to DraftKings sportsbook, the Cowboys are +190 to reach the playoffs, with only three other NFC teams below them. They’re also the odds-on favorite to finish third in the NFC East, well behind both the Eagles and Commanders when it comes to their odds to win the division.

Dak Prescott’s return is huge

People have forgotten just how good the Cowboys are when Dak Prescott is under center. Specifically looking at divisional games, Prescott is 9-4 against the Eagles, 11-2 against the Commanders, and 13-2 against the Giants. Prescott’s only loss to Washington during the Mike McCarthy era was an odd regular-season finale that felt like the team went through the motions, while the quarterback hasn’t lost to the Giants since his rookie year.

Well that article is enough for me.

Buying my plane tickets today to get to Levi Stadium for the SB!

Sometimes it just takes a compelling article like this to really tip the scales.

"They’re also the odds-on favorite to finish third in the NFC East" ......this is what did it for me from the article

NFCE crown, sure. If that's all we're playing for then yes, we're firmly in the mix for that. It's beyond the NFCE that's the issue though.
I agree. I think the window of opportunity is actually opening right now, though, specifically because Dak is at that point in his career.

A substantial injury this year will raise serious question marks. There is a high likelihood of that happening, too.

But if it's not going to happen, and Dak can manage to avoid injury and stay healthy, the window is now, especially if you believe in the moves you've made.

We'll soon see what it all actually may look like. But they've set themselves up nicely. The only downside is a tougher schedule. And like the article points out, the Eagles are likely to slide some.

There's only one way for them to go. And it appears the Cowboys have set themselves up on an upward trajectory. It takes some patience to actually like what they've done, because people want things right now. It's just right now isn't realistic. We'll have to see.

I think they are setting up nicely for the next couple/few years. You may want to bring in a vet 3rd QB to push Milton as well as mentor him. But you also need to start your QB search right now just in case.

How long before Parsons starts the inevitable decline? Don't let time run out.

They should also consider spending some of their cap, if the opportunity arises.

If nothing else, make Pickens a Cowboy. That would be a nice add. All this emphasis on the run; it's still a passing league.

It’s a process
Right.

But you can also speed up the process and I think they're trying to do that. Because, like I said, there's a window right now for some of our core, star veteran players.

Hopefully Jerry and McClay realize that window is right now. A few more good pieces and they could be dominant. Just a few more solid adds, likely preseason...or shortly after.

I think they need veterans similar to what we added with Hankins. They're going to wait and see though. I think more is to come and they also think now is sort of a window opening.

I mean that’s what the article stated. Dak Prescott has never in his entire career taken the lions share of snaps under center preferring to play out of the shotgun.
"under center" means playing starting qb in this context, obviously.

It’s a process
Continued:

It is obviously a process. But people don't like that phrase because it's a master of the obvious statement that linguistically, perhaps unintentionally, rubs people the wrong way.

There's something in the air though. I'm a firm believer that the smartest people aren't themselves the smartest. But they're smart enough to delegate responsibilities to the smartest people.

In that regard, I think Schotty has done well. We'll see how much credit he gives them when things go right and if he's willing to jump on the grenade when things go wrong.

He’s a better than average QB and is more than talented enough to help the Cowboys to the promised land.

so much hype, this is why other fans are so annoyed with our fanbase.

The reality is -
- we have an overpaid aging qb coming off a massive season ending injury which will further limit his mobilty
- we have a totally new coaching staff and new schemes that will take time to be integrated
- we have a lot of new faces and rookies / early career players that will have to take on starting roles
- we have a ton of injuries in our defense that will not be ready to start the season

Yes we have added Pickens which shoudl make things fun but the reality is we will likely start off 2-6 or 3--5 and then finish the same or slightly better but playing much better at the end of the year.

I would love to see them as a contendor but i see them as a developing team that will be a tough second half of the year out

This is the year of "the best shape of my life". Again.

i dont know how much better than average he is, might be 12-15 which techincally is better than average....and yes he could help them to the promised land but needs everything to be just about perfect for him to do so
