News: BTB: Why Versatility is the buzzword around the Cowboys offense

I'm anxious for camp to start so we can get an idea of how Linehan will use our skilled players. Versatility sounds promising.

“If they’re going to start matching people up, it’s going to be fairly easy to see what they’re in,” Linehan said. “If you move a slot receiver to an outside receiver position, you can see what coverage it is.

”Bracket our tight end and split end all the time. Start somewhere. Start with stop the run, because we know these guys [the Cowboys] are a committed run team, then let’s have these guys who can play multiple positions based on the matchup. Dak can pick that guy out and go to that guy.

”There should be some good balance to our targets, which is hopefully the goal of that.”

*******

Sounds good in theory.

If the Cowboys had said they were changing the brand of socks the team wore someone on this site would have made the same comment. We try way too hard to read something into everything the media puts out.

Exactly, these people are the plague that wears the fan base down. I don't even know why they call themselves rooting for the team.

The thing is, there are real worries about the team (along with real positives), yet it seems a lot of fans love to focus on the nonsensical and inconsequential.

I am not sure you can include Dez in the category of "proven commodities", especially based on recent years track record

I thought it was gong to be "vanilla".

Not sure I'd characterize versatility as bad news.

Why would they not do this last year, especially when they were using bracket on Beez every pass play.

Same every year BS but in a different term sadly most people still buying into it.
Too much talking with less result .

This is the media finding things to write about, not the Cowboys calling press conferences

I am aware of that sadly.Sport is nothing but a money making reality show.More of it now than before.
would love to have less access to team by the media unless in a very important event.

I think in most cases coaches would prefer not to spend much time with the media, but it's a required part of the job. The media is a double edged sword - both necessary to make the NFL a viable consumer product, and responsible for a lot of nonsense being put out to the fans. Unfortunately a lot of fans don't seem to get that what the media puts out to grab their attention often isn't coming from the team.
