Everyone has that special moment in their Cowboys fandom, what's yours?

I grew up a Cowboys fan in a sea of Commander lovers. As most of our readers know, although I was born in the southwest, 99% of my life has been spent in the Washington DC area and all of my sports fandom was developed while here. My interest in Dallas arose via Sports Illustrated covers that commemorated a great coach that had fallen on hard times.

I was a early teen baseball fan who became interested in and intrigued by the write-ups during the 1989 offseason that detailed the transition from Tom Landry to Jimmy Johnson. Suffice to say, my early indoctrination to Cowboys Nation was rewarded by the time I made it to high school. I had to suffer through a sophomore season of the Commanders winning a championship to get through Dallas going back-to-back during my junior and senior seasons.

During those years, though, I watched football by myself really. My dad was a Skins fan, but due to his job he was so worn out that we rarely watched games together. My first true moment of social Cowboys greatness didn't occur until January of 1996.

As a freshman at Hampton University, I had so suffer through the 95 championship game loss to San Francisco in a dormitory lobby and all of the smack talk that went with it. But as off-campus sophomores, we had a Super Bowl party for the ages and I got to celebrate what really wasn't an aesthetically pleasing game when I look back on it. But boy, was it awesome to live through. For my money, that was my greatest Cowboys moment, my first in a long life of being a trash-talking legend.

That moment, amongst many others of the Cowboys glorious games in the 1970's and 1990's will be featured on NFL Network during Dynasty Week, starting tomorrow evening. Here's a listing of their Cowboys-centric schedule over the next seven days.
