If the Cowboys stick with the 4-3

George Edwards, Cowboys senior defensive assistant

Steve Wilks, former Panthers and Brownsdefensive coordinator

Teryl Austin, Steelers senior defensive assistant

Dan Quinn, former Falcons head coach

If the Cowboys switch to more of a 3-4 look

Dom Capers, Vikings senior defensive assistant

James Bettcher, former Cardinals and Giants defensive coordinator

Chris Hewitt, Ravens defensive pass game coordinator

Larry Foote, Buccaneers linebackers coach

good read.
from the list i like...
☆George Edwards
☆Steve Wilks
☆Dan Quinn

there is a history with McCarthy and Capers...so that is someone to watch.
my gutt feeling tho is Jerry wants a 4-3 because we have the guys here for that.

Interesting that the Ravens DEF has been the same since 2004 when Nolan left which he tweaked after Marvin Lewis departed. Seems to have worked quite well for them over the last 20 seasons

Steve Wilks is kind of intriguing to me.....

As I said in the other thread if we go with the 34, Rex Ryan is available but his personality is a little large IMO.

Would Ryan come back to the league though?

He might. I’m not sure Mike could handle such a large personality though. I know one thing, the dude can coach Defense. When he was the HC with the Jets and went to the Title game twice with Sanchez at QB.

Im all for it. I think we need a personality on the defensive side or a proven guy. Ryan, Schwartz, Wade, Bradley etc

I just read this on BTB and I was impressed by the list the author put together. I fully expect the Joneses to bring in a short list DC candidates full of brother-in-lawing...then go on vacation for the rest of the off-season as usual.

Anyway, I like Hewitt, Wills and Austin. I want ppl who look to build the secondary and can coach some players up on the back end.

Edwards as a candidate makes no sense to me if they want to change the scheme.

If Edwards runs something different, why was he on Nolans staff to begin with?

capers is older than the hills..so NO. That is not a fit. We need a younger coach that can teach, grow with the players and scheme. Joe Whitt wouldnt be my top choice..but I am ok with it. I rather have someone else that holds instant RECENT cred come in and coach.I am thinking Quinn or Gus Bradley.

I'm not an XO guy by any stretch but Nolans scheme sure looked like a 34 type deal to me.

We supposedly ran a 43 under Rod and it looked completely different.

I realize the 425 thing and that was awful.

At any rate, Dallas needs themselves some linebackers big time

Give me matt patricia
hmm..now THERE is a name I hadn't thought of. Now that may be very interesting.Only thing that worries me is he didnt exactly build a good defense in Detroit. In fact, it was awful and partly why he was canned. THAT SAID, maybe the fit was bad up there.

he had his chance in ZONA and that defense was Gawd awful. Why he was let go. I think I would pass.

I always feel sometimes good dc's try to do too much as HC's with more responsibility etc. Wade phillips comes to mind
