The O-Line has figured it out.

Joe Philbin deserves a standing ovation for getting the Cowboys' offensive line to play its best football down the stretch. This unit has been ravaged by injury this season and the constant reshuffling of personnel made it difficult for the unit to develop any chemistry along the frontline. In addition, the lack of experience on the edges posed additional challenges in determining how to best protect the quarterback in pass protection while also designing a running game that suited the runners and blockers.

After studying the offensive line's performance over the past few weeks, the Cowboys' frontline quintet has found their way and they're beginning to control the trenches in every aspect. From moving defenders off the ball in the running game to acting as a fortress in front of Dalton, the combination of Brandon Knight, Connor Williams, Joe Looney, Connor McGovern, and Terence Steele have improved significantly down the stretch. Tyler Biadasz has also contributed as a super-sub asked to come in when an injury forces a short-term reshuffle.

Although this unit certainly pales in comparison to the lineup that was expected to feature Tryon Smith, La'el Collins and Zack Martin, the steady improvement and overall development of this group is encouraging for 2020 and beyond.

A good read, and Bucky talks about how good Randy Gregory is too.

The OL hasn't figured much out, Kellen did. Throw the ball quickly before the the DL can get there and only run when you have numbers.

They've gotten better simply from consistency I guess, but they still get worked at the POA>

I have always liked Bucky Brooks opinion. Most of the time he is straightforward and honest. Is he the guy that is in the running for the Jags GM and likes Dak?
Nah that’s Louis Riddick, they do have similar styles as analysts and the bald heads don’t make it any easier to decipher between the two lol

Philbin has done an outstanding job patching an OL together from a bunch of scraps. Has he always been this good of an OL coach?
Can’t speak on his time as HC in Miami but when he had his hands on the line in GB they always seemed to be one of the best in the league.

Don’t wanna jinx it but has anyone noticed a drop in penalties from the O-line as well? Not sure if that can be attributed to him but I know his lines in GB were not heavily penalized.

He was the O-Line coach for the Packers and their "OC".

The Miami line he had wasn't bad until the Incognito incident and it was never the same.
They got Albert the following year but injuries plagued the lineup

One real positive that can come out of this too is hopefully when Smith, Martin, and Collins are back healthy next year 2 guys of the regulars that have played this year can step up and now cement what would be a great starting 5 up front.

Seems very probable, plus we’ll have great depth there.

We just needed him on how to teach holding without it being called. We’d have won those playoff games in GB had he been on the Cowboys’ sideline.

Funny thing is the one word that keeps showing up in all articles pertaining to this team as of late, regardless if its Offense or Defense.
What is that word... Chemistry.
That one element Ive seen take teams to SBs.

By my count our running backs were hit in the backfield on 13 of their 28 carries against the Eagles.. If that's "getting better" then I don't even wanna think about what it was before..

It would take more than chemistry for this group to win a playoff game, much less a Super Bowl.

We don't see as many complete breakdowns in the blocking like we once did, but this is still a weak unit. Where they have improved is picking up the tricks, like the blitzes and stunts. I am liking what I see from McGovern, but Steele is still not ready for prime time. This week, against the Giants, the Cowboys will face 3 of the better DTs in the league. I worry about inside pressure against Dalton without Zack Martin. We will get a very good idea how how good McGovern is this week. Same goes for Biadasz if he plays.
