According to http://www.pewterreport.com/article.asp?%20action=detail&article=2093&category= Bucs began talks with Ashworth's agent on Tuesday, March 14; 3 other teams (nfi) were also interested in Ashworth but it unclear whether Bucs can afford Ashworth. Bucs have also had visits from 13 year vet Brad Hopkins (Titans), 8 yr vet Jason Fabini (Jets) & 4 year vet Mike Pearson (Jags).

If Cowboys not interested in Ashworth, maybe there is still interest in Fabini if he able pass physical & demands are reasonable later on in FA. While I'd rather have a younger starting RT, signing Fabini would be an upgrade for 1-2 years allowing time for Pettiti/Rogers/Colombo/draftee to develop as legit LT/RT backups & possible replacements for Fabini after he leaves.

I have this feeling that the Cowboys think they have an ace up their sleeve in Columbo. I thought he was in at the end of the season on fg attempts to try and block? I hope that the this last year off and offseason conditioning under the watchfull eyes of the Cowboy's brass will have him ready to start. But even if that is the case, I think they hedge their bet and draft an OT in the third round.

would have liked to seen us pursue Ashworth...he wouldnt have got a break the bank type product and is good, not too old veteran experience that could play either tackle spot in a pinch...is probably alot better than what we currenetly have at RT, and signing him wouldnt have have precluded us from using a high pick on another tackle and 1) either developing that guy or 2) using Ashworth as a backup

Yep, he was one of the few FAs out there that I hoped we would sign.
