Building team interest on bringing back Amari Cooper

Keenan Allen is the guy I would try. From what I’ve seen out there he would cost 13-15 million on a one year deal. Pretty pricey, but the dude is savvy and would be great with Dak IMO.

For reference, Allen caught 70 balls for over 700 yards and 7 TD’s with Chicago. He has over 700 yards in every year he’s played football except for the injury year. Tolbert’s best year was last with 49 catches for 610 yards.
On the SD site they are saying they think they could have Allen for 6-10M. Would take him all day long over Cooper.

The more I look into Cooper from 2024 the more I'm buying into him as a rebound candidate. Really when he was on the field for Buffalo he did pretty well. The issue is for whatever reason he didn't get on the field a ton. Could be they simply were not confident in Cooper. Could be he just didnt fit into their scheme that well. Could be Cooper being such a timing/precision guy who relies on route running its tough to bring in mid way through the year too.

Still he only got to run 186 routes including the playoffs for Buffalo and racked up over 300 yards doing so. His 1.85 yards per route ran in Buffalo would have been right in line with Courtland Sutton, Calvin Ridley, Stefon Diggs, Cooper Kupp territory which is prime #2 WR status in terms of efficiency. Ill have to open the tape on Cooper to see what actually shows up from his time in Buffalo.

Was it McCarthy that had a problem with Cooper? Sure sounded as if Jerry was the one who was annoyed at him missing that KC game a few years ago. Not being a “team player” IIRC.

Either way, any of you who want to add players like him had better not be complaining about draft position when they are in line to win 7-8 games instead of 5-6.

Can’t have it both ways, and Amari Cooper doesn’t turn this roster into a playoff one.

Jerry has said a few times that we cut Coop because of money. I remember the rumblings about him not wanting to get the vaccine, but it was always about the savings.

I think Jerry's feelings about him not getting the shot made it easier to dump him. He didn't consider him abstaining as a "team player" type of decision. I remember him being fairly vocal about it.

Another question would be:

Do we think he still has anything left in the tank?
The fact that he had a pretty quiet regular season made me think he was done but he had a nice post season.

But we need youth.

Besides, I would hope he would turn them down if they asked.

Why? They do the same thing. I rarely talk money, but in this case, maybe whoever takes a better deal for the team.

Allen is a good route runner, so is Cooper.

Neither are fast. Allen is actually slow. He’s a great first down getter but that’s about it.

Maybe it’s just that they know more about Cooper and that’s enough to differentiate

I mean there's not much out there other than Cooper or Keenan Allen.

And we all know Tolbert and Mingo aint it.

This is what happens when you suck at team building.
Lol, they just had an outstanding draft.
