- Jones needs to run with his instincts. Allow the aggressive D to overpursue, and make them pay. If JJ doesn't have a big game, I don't see us having that great a shot at winning. We need to play hard nosed football to beat Philly.

- Blitz McNabb. Even if we don't get sacks, make him pick himself up off the ground alot. Blitz him and force him to roll to his left side. Let's see him make throws across the body with a jacked up mid section.

- Stay aggressive on defense. If we build a lead, Zimmer better keep calling up the blitzes. Our CB's are good enough to cover their WR. Owens scares me. But honestly, he scares me more if he just gets to free lance because we aren't forcing the ball out.

-LB's need to keep an eye on Westbrook. Good tackling. Don't let him create the big plays he likes.

- Keep it conservative, but definately take some chances. We need to swing momentum in our favor.

I have a good feeling about this game. If we can put it all together, we can give the Iggles a good run for their money.

I don't know why we have ever stopped blitzing....
if its because we're afraid of giving up the big play...we're still giving up big plays deep.
I like our chances better with limiting the QB to 1 or 2 reads and making him get rid of it. You'll lose a few but if your secondary is worth a darn, you'll win more than you lose. That, IMO, is how we beat SD. Being conservative is how we lost and almost lost every week since....

Nice post.

I'll be curious to see if Tuna mimics Belichick's success in the SB and plays very little 3-4 vs Philly, but does throw in some 2 man fronts and turns the backers loose.

Other than the fact that the 3-4 emphasizes linebackers and this team is pretty thin there, my biggest beef with the scheme is the fact that Parcells seems to play it pretty vanilla.

I am sure a lot of that has to do with the fact that young guys are trying to acclimate themselves to not only the scheme, but the NFL.

However, I rarely see exotic blitz schemes or formations. Its basically been 3-4, 4-3 over/under and nickel packages. The blitzers are usually the safeties or Ware in the 3-4. Shanle/Dat go occasionally in the nickel.

I know the trendy thing is to blame Zimmer, but I hang a lot of this on Parcells. If he wants to demand HIS defense be played, he should be spoon feeding a guy like Zimmer.

Personally, right now, I think Belechick is the better Xs and Os guy.

On a somewhat unrelated note....will Belechick be enshrined in the HOF wearing that dang gray hooded sweatshirt?

What I would like to see but it will never happen...but I would like to see on our very first play on offense Bledsoe drop back to pass and go deep to either Price or Glenn. If we do that and Bledsoe connects to one of them for a TD that sets the tone for the game and completely messes with the Eagles D.

Yeah I have that much faith in Bledsoe. The man is extremely accurate on long passes and how he hits those WRs in stride that far away is just sick.
