Bunting just tweeted that an NFL scout told him that he believed Julio Jones will be the 1st WR taken. While Bunting still has Green rated higher than Jones, he agreed that Jones would be selected first...

Two WRs in the 1st 8 picks would definitely help us out

Honestly if julio is there at 9 it will be a blessing either take him or hold that boy for ransom and get some quality picks

I dont care what the measurables say, AJ Green is a better football player than Julio Jones.

I'd take Green 10 out of 10 times over him.

I was really surprised by Julio Jones' 40 time. 4.39 WOW! He is under rated in this draft, imo.

Mike Holmgren will most likely draft this guy, I think. He is the perfect X receiver in the West Coast Offense.

This has been Alabama's best prospect on offense all along, imo.

11 out of 10 times.

More than anything, it affirms he'll go in the top 15, but he's not better than Green.

I like the kid and hope he goes in the top 8 to push someone down to us, but before Green????? I don't doubt that it will happen, just think its crazy.

No way would I take Julio Jones over A.J. Green... Green has "it" factor when it comes to playing WR.

The combine backlash has made people believe a good performance means hes just a workout warrior. As if Julio Jones wouldnt be an absolute nightmare for defenses.

I think all in all this means no WR will go top 5.

Green is the best WR available but he is not a physical freak.
Jones is a physical freak but he didn't play at his recorded times in college.

IMHO, if he played in a high octane offense that allowed him to put up big numbers that featured him, he would have been considered a no brainer Top 10 pick all along. Some games Alabama featured him, other games they were just content to let Richardson and Ingram grind it out. I'm not sure if there is a site out there that keeps track of a target percentage for NCAA WRs, but it would be interesting to the difference in targets between Jones and Green.

I think AJ Green will make a fine possession WR in the NFL, but Jones is on a different level as a play maker.

and therein lies the problem with the combine. People become enamoured with numbers. AJGreen is way better and imo its not close.
Jones drops the ball, period.

If only Julio Jones had put up numbers on the football field with pads on. Like say 78 catches for 1133 yards or something along those lines. I don't know how you could say "its not even close" when Jones put up better football numbers than AJ Green as well. Green put up constant solid performances every week, he was pretty much the only weapon on the Georgia offense last year so he never lacked for targets, but he never came close to putting up the spectacular performances Jones put up in the Auburn or Tennessee games.

I think the problem with the Scouting process in general isn't the Combine, it's that people weight too heavily what the draft sites say in from July, 7 months ago.

I think Green is gone before the Cowboys pick at #9. Jones probably closer to the mid teens.

If Im Sam Bradford I write down Julio Jones name on a card and sit in the first row at the draft

Not only that but those 4 games were against the cup cakes most players fatten up on.

Green:
10/2 @Colorado 7 119
10/9 Tennessee 6 96
10/16 Vanderbilt 3 64
10/23 @Kentucky 6 86
10/30 Florida 4 42
11/6 Idaho State 6 103
11/13 @Auburn 9 164
11/27 Georgia Tech 8 97

AutoZone LIBERTY BOWL @UCF L 10-6 8 77

Jones had big games this year but was way more up and down with a couple 3 or less catch games. Green's worst game was 3 catches for 64 yards and a TD. Jones had a game with a single catch for 8 yards and 3 catches for 19 against Florida. Both guys, ironically were really great versus Auburn.

Both guys are really good players but Jones a lot more consistent.

JOnes also had to split the football with two other future 1st round picks in Richardson and Ingram. If you look at the games where Jones didn't put up big numbers, it generally because they didn't pass the ball a lot because they were relying on their running game. Green was force fed the ball way more often because he was simply the only difference maker the Georgia offense had.

I like Green too, but to me he's just a possession type of guy. A half a step faster Keyshawn. He doesn't have Jones' big hone run ability, and certainly doesn't have his skills after the catch. He had a lot of games where he didn't even crack 100 yards receiving, much less put up the monster games Jones did against Auburn or Teennessee. It's just a matter of personal preference.

sigh.... Green had 164 yards versus Auburn.... how is that not a monster game? Do you check stats before you post? Green has the higher yardage per completion every year. How is Jones better after the catch? Green scored 23 TDs in 3 years minus 4 games. Jones scored 15 in 3 full years.

That weak argument about other talent works both ways. Teams had to defend Ingram and play the run heavily not just defend Julio.
