Burger King has unleashed a wild new weapon in the fast-food wars

Burger King will soon be serving up Mac n' Cheetos — creamy mac n' cheese deep fried into Cheeto-shaped sticks and covered with crispy Cheetos flavoring.

The fast-food chain will begin serving the menu item for a limited time on June 27. Mac n' Cheetos will be offered in packs of five with the recommended price of $2.49.

"No one understands snacking better than Cheetos, and our expertise at Burger King restaurants' is serving guests on the go, so it just made sense that we come together to reinvent this favorite food like it's never been done before," Alex Macedo, president of Burger King North America, said in a statement.

The new snack represents a creative — or, depending on your perspective, absurd — new take on the trend of portable snacks in the fast-food industry. Items such as Burger King's grilled hot dog and KFC's to-go cup are doubling down on busy consumers who want to be able to eat on the go — something that is traditionally a challenge for macaroni-and-cheese lovers.

The mashup snack is also a continuation of PepsiCo snack brands' entrance into the fast-food industry. Doritos have been an industry favorite, with menu mashups such as Taco Bell's Doritos Locos Taco and 7-Eleven's Doritos Loaded.

that just looks like it will be like mcdonalds fries - great if you get them in the first 5 minutes from the grease, but after that...

I've never really been a fan of fried mac and cheese. Which is a good thing as anyone eating that will be racing to the box. (that box being a casket)

Does anyone still eat at Burger King?

I was never a BK fan. I don't like their fries or their burgers. Pretty much the only thing I ever ate their if I got stuck into going was their chicken sandwich or the ham and cheese.

I like BK food... Have it rarely though, like most fast food.

Their fries are not up to the taste of McD's, but I like BK's burgers... Wouldn't say they're better than McD's... Just different.

I do like Whopper Jr's w/o cheese... Even though I do like cheese I try to get burgers w/o just to cut down on the fat.

BK's chicken sandwiches are darned good– those they've mastered.

If I do get a fast-food meal... I either have a water bottle with me or get water.

No pop, soda (or whatever you want to call it) or shakes.

I eat better (less/more healthy) than I used to, so not very often. I would love to eat there more though. Really like their burgers, and used to love their fries (before they went "fat"). The fries are still far better than the soggy crap you get at McD's though.

Seriously, I'm trying these one time. With a Grilled Chicken. Fastfood burgers are terrible. Whataberger isn't as bad as the rest.

McDonalds and Burgeking are bordering on trashdiving for your meals, they are based on welfare economics and compete for the worst generic products.
