Does anyone know how rookie LB Burnett is doing? I read the surgery went great and he was running/jogging already........is it unreasonable that he may be activated for the Commander game?

We could sure use him on Special teams.......his tackling abilities:star:

I was shocked to hear he was jogging already, after any kind of surgery, that seems to be quick. I hope we don't rush him and risk injury. That said, I can't wait to see this kid on the field. Not that Madden 2006 is a good representation of things, but he is a much bigger playmaker in that game than Ware. Get healthy Burnett!

i doubt he'll play possibly for another couple games, but i'm starting to believe he will make an impact when he returns, no pun intended. as Fujita works in, Spears gets up to speed, Ferguson gets his conditioning, and Canty gets his NFL legs under him - this defense will only get better... Burnett could see some action in Week 3 but i can guarantee he will be on the field against the Eagles, no doubt.

Now that Burnett is backing up Ware, has he been moved back on first team nickel?

I'd sure rather see him there than Shanle.

It sure sounded like Burnett was making a push to play monday -- various comments included "surgery went far better than anyone expected" (read problem was minor and no further damage found) - "he's a fast healer" and "we've got an extra day to get him ready". My guess is that if Burnett hits the practice field this week at all he's going to play.

Last week there were times when Ware lined up on the right side. I'd imagine there will be times when Burnett and Ware will line up as OLB at the same time ... especially when they are wanting to get a big rush.

Well. We have to get someone in there opposite Ware with some legitimate pass-rushing talent. Whether it's Burnett or Fujita, I don't care. Singleton cant get it done.

Fujita is probably a bigger signing than anyone realizes.

Who were the LB's in nickle at SD?
Dat and Shanle. I don't see that changing either since Shanle is a very good player and does a fine job in that position. I doubt that Burnett takes that responsibility back.

I can only imagine our D in a few weeks with Fujita and Burnett added to the mix. I wouldn't be surprised at all if by week 10, our D is in the top 3 in the league. And they will continue to improve way beyond that.

Just thinking about it causes stirrings in my loins...

Today's report on dc.com say Burnett is running at full speed. That is like 5 days after surgery. Sounds like he's playing.

Shanle didn't do much against SD. Burnett was running there early in camp.

With Burnett backing up Ware, I'd like to find ways to get him on the field. The nickel is a good place.

I still don't really understand the Shanle move to ILB. He looked OK at outside last year in limited duty.

Wow! Just got back from taking my family out to eat....this is great news abersonc......thanks for the update.

We just want to make sure he is 100% before he plays.............we have two chump games upcoming so no need to rush things.....we need him for the long haul against Philly, and other teams with tough QB's etc....

I would expect Burnett to earn that spot back, maybe not right away though. From the limited amount of games I've seen last year and a little this year, Shanle looks pretty good, more than I (and apparently others) would expect. But if Burnett can't take that job back, that's not a good sign.
