But I thought Brees was becoming the best QB ever

And how long do you think it will be before the Jerry Jones Marketing Machine reminds us how we beat these same 49ers in the regular season? :laugh2:

Stupid title...Brees led his team back into the lead twice in 4th quarter against one of the best defenses in the league, despite the best special teams pinning them deep over and over.

How can the niners winning on two TD drives say anything about Brees?

Good Grief! Is it getting crazier in here or is my memory that bad?

I have even more respect for him after this game than I did before. This could go down in his career similar to what the Aikman game was in the 38-28 loss to SF in the NFC Championship game.

They threw the ball 60+ times and nearly won the game! He was uncomfortable in the pocket all game long and still stuck with it

The media/analysts have literally become a "what happened in the LAST game I saw is the rule".

The packers could play at 1pm, and by 4:08pm, Aaron Rodgers is the best QB in the league, MVP hands down.

The saints play at 4pm, and by 7:25pm, Drew Brees is the best QB in the league, MVP hands down.

Ridiculous.

The SF D forced Brees into some mistakes and turnovers. Kept the game close. And to his credit Alex Smith played the game of his career. BUT what really happened was that the NO D could not get it done when it mattered.

Those who claim you can win a title with only offense should think about this game

You and I can finally agree on something. We have several posters here dreaming about us trying to get a perfect OLINE. I want the same thing, but I'm realistic too. I know the number 1 thing to fix on this team is the secondary, then the defensive line, then the oline. We need a well rounded team, not just one that can put up a lot of points.

Yep, it just comes down to who has the ball last if you dont have a D.

It did come down to who had the ball last .. with enough time to score.

Brees is a historically great player. His only flaw is that he throws too many interceptable passes. Even last week, he had about three that should have been picked off. It's undoubtedly his Achille's heal. Still, you're willing to take that when he also puts up 400 yards and 4 TDs. Today, though, the turnovers certainly were part of their undoing.

The Cowboys didn't beat those same 49ers they weren't near as good a team in week #2 as the one we saw today. Alex Smith wasn't half the QB in week #2 that we saw make play after play against an excellent Saints team. Harbaugh had so little trust in Smith and his offense against the Cowboys in week #2 he turned down a 15 yard penalty after the Niners converted a FG that would have put them at around the Cowboys 35 yardline. This SF team would destroy the Cowboys.

SF D put a lot of pressure on Brees. That made a big difference; last week he could sit back and do what he wanted. Not this week. THE NO D could not get it done when it mattered. That was the difference.

SF's defense couldn't stop NO's offense when it mattered either.

The difference was timing .... the clock ran out on the Saints' O.

This is exactly the mentality used when criticizing Romo when the rest of the team collapses around him.

Good Grief.

When we complain so much about how people blame Romo, how can we turn around and criticize Brees down the stretch?

He put his team in position to win multiple times. The defense crapped the bed.

Hey, at least it shows that people are consistent.

Brees is a hell of a qb and a monster. Did it vs a good defense. It came down to who had the ball last. Was a heck of a game by both teams.

I guess great quarterbacks are supposed to win every game.
